Since joining NAL as a Research Audiologist in 2014, Taegan has worked on a variety of projects with adults and children, in areas including auditory processing disorders, hearing assessment, hearing aid fitting and hearing rehabilitation. She has developed a keen interest in behavioural insights, using these skills to shape and enhance research at NAL and to offer innovative research strategies to our research partners. She was also part of a highly commended team representing NAL at the Nudgeathon competition held in Canberra, Australia in 2018.
Prior to starting at NAL, Taegan worked as a clinical audiologist in a busy regional centre, working with both adult and paediatric clients. her desire to help her clients and improve their hearing and communication outcomes led to her decision to pursue research.
While studying the Masters of Clinical Audiology at Macquarie University, Sydney, Taegan completed a research project in the Philippines, for which she won the Audiological Research prize for best project of 2011.
Devices with M&RIE receivers were compared to devices with standard receivers in several listening conditions to replicate and validate claims made by the manufacturer.
